This project was run through PAVO’s Mental Health developments Service, Powys Agency for Mental Health. The work attempts to identify and analyse the support and opportunities provided by third sector organisations for people in Powys experiencing mental distress and how this can be improved in order to ensure that they contribute to the following three priorities:
Priority 1: People are staying safely in their own home (preventing avoidable admissions).
Priority 2: People are able to return safely to their own home when they are ready (reducing delayed discharges).
Priority 3: People are connected with and supported by their communities.
This research project has been funded by the Powys Local Service Board (LSB) to provide additional information and analysis following the Mental Health and Wellbeing Mapping Project, the report of which was published in July 2010, which aimed to map and analyse the mental health and emotional wellbeing services delivered by both public and voluntary providers in Powys. This research has also been structured to align with the aims of the Continuing Healthcare Third Sector Safe & Equitable Tier 1 Services Mapping Project conducted by PAVO for Powys Teaching Health Board (PtHB), the report of which identified the need for further focus on support for people experiencing mental distress.
The three project reports can be viewed and downloaded:
