THE EARLY YEARS
HEALTH VISITORS
Work with families in their homes. Powys operates a Child Development Programme for pre-school children which aims to provide support, encouragement and information to parents. As a family visitor all ages are included in their work. They are there to listen, support and refer to other agencies when appropriate. Contact through GP surgery or through your local Child Healthcare Clinic.

The team provides a range of support services, based upon assessment of need, including social work support, counselling, practical help within the home and foster care. Social workers help to investigate Child Protection cases, are responsible for supporting children and families in need and provide support to children with physical or learning disabilities and their families. Support is also given to children/young people at risk of offending or who have had contact with the police or courts. Social workers may provide information about nurseries, playgroups, childminders and playschemes.
