The best-known cause is Alzheimers disease, but there are other causes of damage to the brain, which can result in dementia.  They are referred to as Organic Disorders and include some types of strokes (Multi-Infarct Dementia), Parkinson's Disease, Huntington's Chorea, Pick's Disease, Aids Related Dementia and Creutzfeld Jakob Disease.
