CRISIS CARDS

Just as some people with a physical illness such as diabetes or some allergies carry a card with medical details on, some people with mental health problems carry a card with information on it about whom to contact and what their wishes are if they have a mental health emergency.

Mental Health Crisis Cards are available in Powys, and are produced by the Powys Mental Health Alliance in co-operation with the Powys Local Health Board and Powys Social Care Services.  They are available directly from the POWYS AGENCY FOR MENTAL HEALTH (tel: 01982 552 900) or from other mental health groups in Powys.  A leaflet accompanying the card gives information on Advance Directives (Living Wills).

Some other voluntary organisations, such as Survivors Speak Out produce crisis cards, as do some pharmaceutical companies.  A crisis card for carers is available from the Carers' National Association for those who are caring for someone so that, if they are involved in an accident, it will be known that they have someone dependent on them for care.
