POWYS CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAU Powys CAB has secured funding from Welsh Assembly Government over a 2-year period, from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2011, to provide a service to assist children with disabilities and their carers with appropriate welfare benefits claims. The service will aim to ensure that all families with a disabled child(ren), who live in Powys, access all the additional benefit income that may be available to them – in particular Disability Living Allowance for the disabled child and, in some cases, Carer’s Allowance for the parent/carer. Assistance will be given with completion of all relevant benefit claim forms and a full benefit check done. The additional household income gained should make a very real difference to the quality of life of the disabled child and their family.
The project will be co-ordinated by the Powys CAB Prescribing Citizens Advice/Better Advice, Better Health Service. Client can be seen in a number of different venues across Powys, including Powys CAB premises in Newtown, Machynlleth, Brecon and Ystradgynlais and some GP surgeries. Anyone who would like assistance or wishing to make a referral should phone 01686 628989 (Mon-Thurs 9- 5 and Fri 9- 4.30) or e-mail powyscab.pca@btconnect.com. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
