Depression: Care Across a Lifespan published on 3rd April 2009.
There is currently no other book quite the same as this as it looks at mental health across the whole lifespan, from birth to death. Each chapter of the book looks at completely different areas of depression including topical issues such as depression in the workplace, depression in children and young people, suicide and self harm, depression in chronic and long term disease, depression throughout the female life cycle, ethnicity and depression, learning disability and depression, older people and depression and bereavement, treatment for depression and managing depression in primary and secondary care. It took Lynne a year to write the book, a chapter a month, as the sole author. The book was commissioned by Wiley Blackwell.
Chapter 10 looks at current and new practice with a focus on suicide prevention strategies and the suicide strategy in Wales, including the role of the media, which has a huge impact on young people.
Lynne has dedicated the book to her father. Lynne would like to be part of a research team conducing research with children and teachers regarding the emotional health and well being of children and young people. Lynne Walsh is a lecturer in the School of Health Science in Swansea University. Email : l.walsh@swansea.ac.a.uk or christop.walsh@tiscali.co.uk | ||||||||||||||||||||||
