Finding Meaning in Psychosis Early Intervention Services Conference 2014 Summary Of The Event

On Friday March 7th 2014 we ran a national Early Intervention Service conference called Finding Meaning in "Psychosis".

The conference provided an opportunity to explore:

  • how we understand and make sense of “psychotic” experiences
  • best practice in early intervention responses that help people and those close to them cope with these experiences, learn from them and thrive
  • the interactions, treatments and ideas that make a positive difference to people’s lives and how we make sure that these are offered with openness and transparency
  • interventions and treatments that early intervention services could deliver and how they might continue to develop

The conference highlighted the debate that challenges the validity of ‘mental illness’ diagnosis and questions whether the idea of “mental illness” is useful in driving innovation.

The event was funded and run by Public Health Wales and Powys Associaton of Voluntary Organisations.

You can access the poster from the event in English here and in Welsh here
