Making Every Contact Count (MECC) Training Available Now

A joint message from Stuart Bourne, Executive Director of Public Health, and Rhiannon Jones, Executive Director of Nursing.

Do you regularly talk to your clients, patients or service users about healthy lifestyles and wellbeing?  Would you like to be more confident and better able to give advice on diet, physical activity, alcohol and smoking? Have you attended a Making Every Contact Count training session?

Making Every Contact Count (MECC) is a free national programme that aims to give staff the skills and confidence to have behaviour change conversations as part of their everyday role.  The Powys Public Health Team are providing this training free to PTHB staff at a variety of health board locations across Powys. The aim of the training is to help you:

·Learn more about key health behaviours;

·Improve your skills and confidence in talking to patients/clients about changing their behaviours;

·Increase your knowledge of local and national services that can support service users.

Whether your role is clinical or administrative, if you have contact with the public then there is a MECC course suited to you.

If you have any questions about MECC,  please contact Anna Prothero, Powys Local Public Health Team on 01874 712738 or emailPowyspht.admin@wales.nhs.uk
