Recovery College -Decide with me
Decide With Me
For service users, staff and carers
One and a half hour Recovery College session.
Date: Wednesday 11th March Time: 2-3.30pm
Location: Llandrindod Wells
What the session is about:
This session explores making decisions about treatment and care informed equally by both professional knowledge and experience, and by the self-knowledge and experience of the person whose care is being discussed and their carer(s). As the person whose care is being discussed you know what does or does not work for you, your preferences, and what matters to you. As a professional you know the options available, what works most often for people, what the research says and how the service works including what it can and cannot offer. We talk a little about what can be achieved through understanding and working with each other’s world view.
The advantages of an equal relationship are discussed and the power balance between professional and the people they are there for is examined. Participants are invited to consider the power balance in their treatment and care relationships now, and what might be able to be done to make that more equal.
