Suicide and Self-Harm Children Services – via zoom
Course Info;
- Have an understanding of the difference between suicide and self harm
- Recognise possible indicators of thoughts about suicide Have an understanding about why people think about suicide
- Have an understanding about why people self harm
- How to respond to thoughts about suicide
- How to respond to the act of self harm
- Have an understanding of how to help people manage self harm
- Have information of what to say and what not to say
The day (or half day) is divided into two – part one covers suicide and part two covers self-harm.
There are discussions and PowerPoints with films that share lived experience (from The Samaritans and Mind). The Self-harm content originates from a two-day course devised by Bristol Crisis Service and includes examples of activities participants may want to use with people they support.
