ARA Recovery for All, is the National Gambling Support Network (NGSN) provider for Wales https://www.recovery4all.co.uk/.
They offer free support to people experiencing problems with gambling and those that are affected by gambling. In addition to the free support, they also run a free training programme called ‘Bet You Can Help’, this aims to reduce gambling harms by raising awareness among professionals and also equip them with the skills to identify, support and signpost individuals experiencing gambling harm https://betyoucanhelp.co.uk
The ‘Bet You Can Help’ (BYCH) – www.betyoucanhelp.co.uk – training programme aims to educate learners, using an accredited, uniform, and consistent set of rules regarding Gambling Related Harms (GRH) and the associated issues, through an ethos that emphasises a Public Health Approach.
A fundamental aspect of the programme utilises a first aid methodology that supports learners to competently implement an early brief intervention with anyone at risk of, or experiencing, gambling harms, and how to signpost to specialist service providers.
The programme seeks to prevent a worsening or escalation of the individual’s gambling harms situation and to drive down Gambling Harms in line with the national strategy launched by the gambling commission in 2019. This is done through a developed understanding of the issue, developing confidence in supporting individuals and ultimately by guiding and signposting people and creating clear pathways for referrals.
The training is 1hr and free of charge and can be delivered in person or online.
As the Community Engagement Lead, Richard is keen to develop relationships with WCVA/CVCs and explore possibilities on how we could work together to support individuals in our community. So far Richard has developed relationships with SCVS, VAMT, GAVO and NPTCVS. I’ve also attached details of other services provided by ARA Recovery for All which may also be of interest.
