Together for Mental Health is the Welsh Government’s 10 year strategy to improve mental health and well-being in Wales.

In Powys, there is a Mental Health Planning and Development Partnership in place to deliver the strategy locally and prioritise activity to meet the needs of Powys communities. One of its main objectives is to build strength and resilience, promoting mental and emotional health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across the County.

As part of National Mental Health Awareness week, 14th – 20th May 2018, the theme of stress is being explored. Stress is not a mental health problem itself but is a survival response to keep us safe. But it should not become a way of life. The Partnership has therefore been exploring stress, and how it can effect us by asking its members what stress looks like for them and how they manage it.

The Partnership also promotes the Five Ways to Wellbeing, an evidence based approach to living a longer, happier and healthier life. The ‘Five Ways’ are actions that can be undertaken by almost anyone in their everyday lives and can help us tackle stress.

PTHB will be promoting the top tips resulting from the work of the Partnership and promoting one of the ‘Five Ways’ everyday this week through Powys announcements, blogs and website links.
